Beach Guide

Platja d'en Bossa

Sant Josep (South West)

Ibiza’s most notorious party beach, Playa d'en Bossa is constantly packed with a multitude of international visitors and locals with beach bars and restaurants stretching as far as the eye can see.

At 2km long and 30 metres wide, this beach is one of the largest on the island. A favourite spot for the tourists and often described as "an international melting pot", the beach plays home to European thrill seekers, cool cosmopolitans, fashionistas and party goers.

Playa d'en Bossa is bursting with on-beach activities. Pedalos and SUP boards are tourist favourites but the beach also offers catamarans, kayaks, banana boat and jet ski rental. Water skiing sessions and diving school lessons are also popular among visitors, but if watersports aren't for you, there is a volleyball court where intense games play out! The beach is also perfect for long scenic walks at the end of which you can find a lonely watchtower.

The area is a partying hotspot. With some of the world’s most famous clubs, Ushuaïa, Hï (formally Space), the Hard Rock Hotel and Sankey’s playing host to world-renowned DJs – and bars and restaurants in abundance. Playa d’en Bossa is not unfamiliar with wild celebrities, or party-goers who haven't slept in a week – although at the same time, the area offers some of the most sophisticated beach club experiences and culinary delights on the island.

Towards the watchtower at the far end the beach is a little quieter and where families tend to settle in the daytime. The clear, blue waters and soft sandy bed make the beach brilliant for bright-eyed kids wanting to explore and have fun.

Other facilities include, showers, lockers, small shops and lifeguards to ensure your time there is not only packed with fun but safe too! Loungers and parasols can be pre-booked to ensure you get a space, which is highly advised in peak season at some of the more popular beach clubs. Wheelchair access is also provided relatively easy.

If you love the action, the best time to visit Playa d'en Bossa is in the height of summer when party season is in full swing! The festive vibe picks up in the afternoons and continues throughout the evenings into the early hours of the morning. From late May to the end of September expect the area to be buzzing with people and excitement.

The beach is, believed to be, named after a ‘Bossa’ sail due to the concave shape of the coastline.

BEACH BARS & RESTAURANTS

With beach bars, clubs, shops and restaurants back to back along the length of the beach and the high street just behind, you'll never be short of entertainment, food or drinks. Offering a variety of experiences from family-friendly, sporty fun, bustling music bars, fine-dining to five-star beach service, the scene around Playa d’en Bossa is ever expanding and keeps visitors happy from dusk till dawn. Whether you want the best fast-food burger at Steak & Shake, the finest fresh Lobster at Nassau Beach Club or want to join 9000 party people at one of the largest outdoor clubbing venues on the island, Playa d’en Bossa has it all…

The town is also home to Sublimotion, one of the most extravagant culinary and digital immersion show experiences in the world… The concept started inside the workshop of Spanish Chef, Paco Roncero (2 Michelin stars). In 2014, Sublimotion opens its doors. Two years of hard work along with the cooperation of professionals including as chefs, designers, engineers, illusionists, set designers, architects, choreographers and screenwriters, achieved an unprecedented merger of haute cuisine gastronomy and state-of-the-art technology. Sublimotion is first gastronomic show in the world and won ‘Best innovation FSB’ at the World Wide Hospitality Awards the year of it’s opening. The exclusive restaurant hosts just 12 guests per night hosted by 25 staff. Sublimotion is, unquestionably, one of the best dining experiences in the world.
